We advance social inclusion, human rights and save lives

World-Wide Life Enhancement Facility is registered and regulated by the Charity Commission for England and Wales as a Charity Incorporated Organization (CIO).

The organization discharges its objectives to the benefit of refugees, asylum seekers and the Black and Asian Minority Ethnic groups.

Area of operation : Lancashire, Liverpool City and Manchester City.

The existence of this organization was instigated by the high rate of deaths caused to UK residents by COVID-19, in the year 2020. The initiative started in April 2020, joining the NHS frontline staff and working collaboratively to combat the corona virus in The United Kingdom. We supported those living in crowded accommodation and who were unable to socially distant themselves from each other because they had no alternative homes, and were unable to afford another accommodation for themselves. We helped 3000 people in the North West of England (Lancashire, Liverpool City and Manchester City) with face coverings, surgical masks, food and aprons. Beneficiaries included care home staff, NHS frontline workers, refugees, asylum seekers and the Black and Asian Minority ethnic groups.

One thing we know for sure – every single person can help our country control the COVID-19 pandemic. From wearing a mask to washing your hands to maintaining physical distance and avoiding large indoor gatherings, each of us can follow proven public health practices that not only reduce our own chance of getting infected by SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes coronavirus disease, or COVID-19), but also prevent the spread of COVID-19 to our co-workers, friends and loved ones. Another thing that helps is testing as many people as possible. Testing for COVID-19 is so important as it is about finding solutions to stop the spread of COVID-19, particularly among racial and ethnic minorities, and other vulnerable populations that have been disproportionately affected by this pandemic. Our community-based approach stands on providing PPE and guidance, advise to go for testing and prevention strategies for populations who are disproportionately affected by, have the highest
infection rates of, or are most at risk for complications or poor outcomes from COVID-19.Testing can help people determine if they are infected with SARS-CoV-2 – regardless of whether they have symptoms – and whether they are at risk of spreading the infection to others. Taking measures to prevent the spread of infection was an effective strategy for getting us safely back to work and school.

EDUCATION SERVICE

Being able to function in English is a fundamental skill that allows asylum seekers and refugees to meet many other needs. Improving their ability to communicate helps build good relationships with local people. Many asylum seekers and refugees have aspirations to continue their education or to get existing qualifications recognised as valid in the UK. Attending lessons is a way of using their time usefully while waiting for the outcome of their asylum claims and as such is good for their mental health.

This is mainly for asylum seekers and refugees over the age of 16 who wish to continue their education and gain qualifications so they can work in the UK.

What the service offers.

  • Regular one-to-one appointments to discuss the educational needs of individual asylum seekers and refugees.
  • Help with classes that teach English from basic through to advanced levels.
  • Help to find and register for vocational courses, such as shoemaking, plumbing and chef training, or for academic courses at all levels, including tertiary degrees.
  • Checking how overseas educational and professional qualifications compare with those in the British systems through the National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) website.
  • Advice on finding services that may be able to care for your children while you are studying.
  • One-to-one personally tailored English lessons for those who are unable to attend a college class, or who are waiting for a place in a class.
  • Referrals to organisations that may be able to help you with funding your studies.
